now I know what happened, I did not install the camshaft oil seals.
thats what get when you dont check that everything is in its place when you get a remanufactured head

4 quarts is 3.8l but the car was raised up on the jack stand after I took the wheel off, could that cause the oil to collect in the valve cover?
The oil level is where it is supposed to be on the dipstick

can the oil be due to overfilling of oil, I put a full 4 quarts of oil into the oil filler 3 hrs before I started it. I dont see any leaks at the head gasket the only 2 places seem to be the valve cover gasket or the oil pump but ther is no reason for the oil pump to leak. Do I need to change the be...

for the power steering pump, the manual says to tilt the engine upwards to remove or place the pulley

the trick to removing the crank pulley bolt is quite simple, MMamdouh told me that his mechanic places a socket wrench on the bolt sets it against the suspension makes sure that the car is well supported and no one is arround and crank the car. but make sure that the fuse for the fuel pump is out so...

Oil on the Timing belt

Finally after almost 4 months of weekend work I got the cylinder head back o the car, a 2000 lanos 1.6. once the timing belt was on I wanted to see if it worked so I started the car without the timing cover. The car runs great but there seams to be an oil leak on to the timing belt is this normal or...

I am getting ready to install a remanufactured cylinder head on a 2000 1.6l lanos . what kind of sealer, if any, should I use?

I have finaly removed the head and all the exaust valves are bent.
does 360 dynamics havereplacement valves, I probably need all 16

will the head of a 1992 LeMans fit this block?

has anybody put a VW golf diesel or other diesel in a lanos?

I checked the parts # for the blocks 1.5 and 1.6 seem to be the same, the pistons and con rods too. what about the pontiac lemans head?


the engine on ebay is now 600 and I have to go to NJ for pick up, Im in KY

The belt was placed as shown in the timing belt replacement post, tightened to the first mark. crank turned twice and then set to the second mark. I am quite certain that the valves are bent there is resistance when turning the crankbeyond what i would expect. the big block is just a pipe dream but ...
