Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
Mid to high range given that's where you keep the revs for the majority of the rally. But i really don't want losses anywhere in the rev range.

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
Ahh ok, so that means the cylinder walls would have to be machined. I was kinda hoping maybe that diameter was with the pistons rings on or something. I assume there would be a specialist tool to machine the cylinder walls and this would probably not be something i could do myself :\. I've been watc...

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
Hey guys I'm starting to gather info to move onto doing the internals of the A16DMS engine. I'm breaking up doing the internals into two groups due to financial constraits: Group 1: -Pistons -Conrods -Crankshaft -Fly Wheel Group 2: -Cylinder Head -Valves -Valve Springs -Throttle Body (Possibly) The ...

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
That is true, but then wouldn't you increase pedal travel and feel because the same master cylinder has to compress the brake fluid to move the bigger piston in the larger front caliper?

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
Yeah piston caliper makes sense, seeing its a closed system it couldn't really be anything else. What we're trying to achieve is a brake setup where the rear brakes get a little more bias than normal. I think the normal distribution is 70% front 30% rear. I think we're aiming for 60%, 40% respective...

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
So what does the internal diameter of the Brake MC correlate to? I thought that would need to be bigger to run bigger brakes?

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
That's a good suggestion/point, haha just when i thought i was wrapping my head around how this braking system works.

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
Yeah i found the internal bore diameter of the Saab 900s MC, its 22.2mm which is similar or the same as the 1.6L Lanos. But since im switching the front brakes from 256mm Lanos to 280mm VL Commodore brakes, i don't think this will provide enough pressure for the Comy brakes?

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
That's not a bad idea, what i ultimately want to do is replace the Lanos rear drums with TS Astra rear discs and the front Lanos brakes with VL Commodore brakes. To do the rear disc conversion a diagonally opposed master cylinder makes it kinda hard to get the bias right. The Lanos master cylinder i...

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
From what i gather its only the master cylinder that is different between the 1.6L and 1.5L, the brake booster is exactly the same. Manage to find a more complete parts manual for the Lanos. Quite helpful! If anyone wants it let me know.

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
Yep you were absolutely right! I ended up using a 1.5L Lanos airbox, absolutely no difference. Is this kind of compatibility the same for the brake booster as well? I know the master cylinders in the 1.6L is 22mm whereas the 1.5L is 20mm. But the brake booster might be same? I cant find part numbers...

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
Can anyone verify that the standard air boxes in a 1.5L and 1.6L Lanos are exactly the same? Are there any differences at all?

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
Yes you can keep the heater and remove only the aircon. Unfortunately i cannot do that because the heater and blower are in one massive housing and this would have gotten in the way of where the roll cage extends. As for the belt setup, yeah i am doing something very similar to you. I will be removi...

Re: Daewoo Lanos Rally Car
The aircon has been removed from the car and will not be going back in. The compressor is still present and will eventually be removed as well to reduce the load on the engine and free it up a bit more. Was wondering if anyone knows the belt configuration for the 1.6L and that if the aircon compress...
