Re: Lanos 1.5 Clunk when shifting gear
Thanks !! That is certainly worth a shot!! It's pretty easy to select gears at present and I also notice that when you shift down 4th to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd...there is no clunk at all..it only seems to be shifting 1st into 2nd and 2nd into 3rd....That's a pretty simple re-alignment procedure too... I...

Re: Lanos 1.5 Clunk when shifting gear
Hmmm this might not be anything to do with mounts after all. After driving today this is what happens : When you pull off in 1st gear all is perfect ... then change into 2nd and you get the little "clunk" noise as the clutch pedal reaches the top of it's travel ..it's only a little 'clunk' and must ...

Lanos 1.5 Clunk when shifting gear
Hi Guys
When I shift gear I'm getting a soft "clunk" noise from my Lanos... I figured it was Engine Mountings and I have changed the passenger side mounting and the rear mounting.. the driver side is fine....the clunk noise is better BUT it's still there????
Any idea what it might be????
Chris

Re: Found my Coolant Leak - Lanos 1.5
Thanks Guys I don't really want to tackle such a job anyway...if the belt has to come off then I'll let the pros do it!! Yep, KMart is usually a ripoff but our local branch is run by a buddy of mine and he charges me less than other mechs. It sounds like it would be really sensible to change the pum...

Found my Coolant Leak - Lanos 1.5
Hi Guys My coolant that disappears very slowly (like 250ml over 100kms) is at last rearing it's ugly head...I have a little green puddle directly under the motor on the timing belt side so surely that must be water pump housing where it's coming from???? The hose going in there has been replaced and...

Re: New Lanos Coolant Behaviour
My coolant is clean and green with little or no discolouration so I'm not suspecting the heat gasket. When I bought the Lanos the coolant was a dirty brown foamy water so that was flushed out and replaced with coolant ....ours here is a green colour FYI ... dunno if coolant is any other colour in ot...

Re: New Lanos Coolant Behaviour
Thanks!! Indeed it was a bad cap!! It's sorta back to normal now but I wanted to ask just one question??? Have anyone ever witnessed the rad fan actually kicking in????? I know mine work cos if you pull the plug on the sensor both come in a high speed!! I can have the car sitting in the driveway for...

New Lanos Coolant Behaviour
Hi Guys My Lanos is still giving me uphill with the cooling system losing coolant. Here is what happened today!! (1) From cold the coolant level was about two inches below the seam so I topped it up exactly to the seam of the surge tank and no higher. (2) Went to Chicken Treat about 3kms away and go...

Re: Daewoo Lanos 2000 1.5L lack of power on hills
Hey Richie I see to have plenty of power but my motor still smells a bit hot??? Didn't think about the oil at all!!! I have Pennrite 25W60 in the motor ..I just figured that at 176,000 kms it would need an oil for "older engines" Could mine be running a little warm due to the oil throwing out the va...

Re: Cleaning a Lanos Engine
Thanks Guys On other older cars I used to paint on degreaser (in fact diesel fuel works well too) and then carefully wash it off....Just bought a new HP washer so I figured it would be awesome but it will also disable most of the electrics too at that pressure.... I'll do it the old fashioned way an...

Cleaning a Lanos Engine
Hi Guys My Lanos engine is pretty grimy and I would like to get rid of some of the oil/dirt mixture on the block .... any hints and tips??? Can I use a high pressure washer on the motor ..I don't really want to soak electrics to the point that my car is disabled for days until it dries out!! I also ...

Re: Cooling Problem on 1999 Lanos - Sensor/ECU??
Thanks Guys!! The coolant below the pipes is probably old but it does feel wet around the inlet pipe. What I have done now is bypass the heater core totally and then I'll see if the level still drops!!! You can also see where the coolant has been dripping from the inlet and landing on the exhaust co...

Re: Cooling Problem on 1999 Lanos - Sensor/ECU??
Hi Richie I think I have found another coolant leak as the level dropped this morning after my errands!! There seems to be quite of lot of green debris that's more "slushy" than liquid in front of the hose that runs from the engine back into the firewall bulkhead. I assume that this would go to the ...

Re: Cooling Problem on 1999 Lanos - Sensor/ECU??
I think if the thermostat was sticking closed the motor would have seized a long time ago !! Once it gets up to temp it tends to stay there and never budge...it hovers just below the half-way mark ...I'm actually used to seeing my temp gauges rise a little in traffic and then drop a bit when you fly...

Re: Cooling Problem on 1999 Lanos - Sensor/ECU??
Hey Richie That's a cool idea!! In fact the only area where I can see gas has escaped and blemished the paintwork is exactly the same as yours...just around that valve near the strut...Hmmm maybe I will put the idler pulley and belt back and find someone who will just look at the valve and try a reg...
