rough idle. help.
My 2000 lanos runs smooth until I put it in gear. It seems to act as if it is starved for gas. Turn the a/c on and it nearly dies. My mother in law drove it the other day and said it was smoking (white but she wasn't sure if it had a blue tint or not tho). I haven't seen it smoke but fluids seem goo...

Rain/water leak driving me crazy
I have a 99' Lanos 1.6L Hatchback that has a leak. I continuously soaks the passenger floor and has even gotten into the ecm wire harnesses and caused some corrosion and headache tracking down the shorted wire. The car started leaking around the time it was hit on the passenger side front quarter pa...

Help!!! P1627
My '00 lanos 1.6L has tripped a CEL code P1627. My fuel gauge hasn't worked in a while. When the code was tripped the radiator fans came on and the fuel gauge mysteriously started working, but slowly lowered to empty again (I have just under a half of tank of gas). I pulled the 6 pin fuel pump conne...

Re: Fuel Gauge
To Daniel: Yes, I have the "improved" unit. No change from old unit to new unit. Good thought though. To Puddle: Yeah that appears to be of a different problem. Just to comment though, I believe the tank capacity is around 10.7 gals (40.5 L). I have gotten 364 miles on a tank and was still running, ...

Fuel Gauge
I have a Daewoo Lanos (2000) 1.6L that the fuel gauge will never go above half a tank even when full. The low fuel light will come on correctly also (assuming these are separate circuits is why one works and the other does not). I have replace the sending unit (entire unit) twice and have cleaned th...

clunk and knocking noise Solved!
I took the A-Frame off trying to narrow down the noise. Turns out the factory riveted ball joint was loose. The integrity of the rivets was good, however it was as if the factory didn't get it tight. I bought some Moog ball joints, took both A-Frames off and drilled the stock joints out. I put the M...

Impossible... or nearly. HELP!!!
I hit the 80,000 a few months ago and finally got around to changing the timing belt and water pump on my 1999 Daewoo Lanos 1.6L. I've timed my other Daewoo with little problems, but this one seems impossible. I have pictures of the current settings. Its as if the thing refuses to line up on the cam...

cable catches?
Anyone know where I can get the a/c and heater control cables and vent control cables. The plastic catches have broken. The design of these are poor. I'd like to modify them in a more efficient way. Any ideas?

Re: injectors
I'm sure you thought of this but what about the ones listed on Jc Whitney? They appear to be in the performance class. Let me know if you can't track down a 318i and I'll se what I can find near me if you would like. I seem to hit the salvage yards a few times a month lately.

Re: leaky valve gasket after rebuild...help!!!
Well don't I look like a fool ;) I'll have to look, but the page I printed out didn't give that valuable info. It only gives the torque values and discusses the pattern to tighten the bolts ( or the order). This seems odd, but I guess I could have over looked it when printing it or the original scan...

Re: leaky valve gasket after rebuild...help!!!
That's one thing I didn't do is seal with rtv , but I have always been under the assumption that rtv on a valve or cam cover was preference and not a requirement. No doubt that rtv will seal it as long as the proper amount is used lol.

leaky valve gasket after rebuild...help!!!
OK. I recently rebuilt the head on my 1999 1.6l Lanos. I torqued everything per the service manual and in the correct order. I had been noticing some smoke around the exhaust maniford / cat converter interface after cutting the engine off when it reach operating temperature. Today when it reach oper...

Re: head gasket thickness, piston to valve clearance
Are you trying to find a Lanos Head Gasket? Sorry. I'm confused If so, Ebay is your friend. I found a full gasket set for 40 dollars. It had every gasket on the engine and fuel pump.
