2001 Nubira-Same plug misfire 3 times

Post by AliBali58 »

Does anyone know why the same plug #4 would go out 3 times in less than 55,000 miles. Dealer says not a warranty issue and charges me a fortune to change the plugs, wires, rotor etc. I say it's not normal for same one to go out.
Seems to me if it can't be fixed, I should just go to the local tune up shop and pay less.
Any suggestions

Re Nubira Spark plug problem

Post by AliBali58 »

Sorry, it's 2001 daewoo Nubira (USA) 2.2L I think with 54,000 miles and the check engine light is flashing and the whole cars shakes. We ran the codes and it shows misfire on spark plug #4. This is the 3rd time this has happened
I've never seen how te plug looks since the dealer does the repair.
As to service schedule, I change the oil regularly 3000 miles have changed coolant, tranny fluid and cleaned fuel injectors twice. Spark plugs wice before due to this problem

That's about it.

it is not necessarly the spark plug, it could be the spark plug wire or the coil pack itself... did you change those as well during the spark plug replacment?

re Nubira Spark Plug Misfire

We changed the wires both times and the distributor cap but I don't think the coil.
I am taking it in to Econo Lube and Tune today, will have him oo plugs and wires and will ask for the plugs back to check the condition.
Will let you know how it goes.

Well we changed the plugs and ran fuel injector cleaner thru. While the car is running more smoothly it's still loud and the check engine light is still on.
They checked the wires and the coil and they were fine. So tomorrow I'll take it to AutoZone and see if there are any new codes that will help figure out what is wrong.
By the way the #4 spark plug was clean like it was not getting gas
The repair shop said if I needed a new fuel injector it would cost $258.00. I went to the Daewoo website where they are selling parts direct and if I'm not mistaken the cost was only about $50.00 each so that may ne what I try next.

$258 for one new injector is crazy - 50 bucks is more like it. BTW the Nubira has a 2.0L engine.

I believe it is your fuel injector. My wife's car, 2000 Nubira, had the same problem. Fuel injector cleaners did not work! You can true the professional one, but I think you should get a new injector installed. That's what I ended up doing, but do it yourself!! It's alot cheaper!! My wife doesn't know much about mechanics and already agreed to the service and paid for the bill without talking to me. She was charge 2.5 hrs of labor plus parts.
So just do it yourself.
When in doubt, FLOOR it!!!

their is an article about changing fule injectors in the how to section if you decided to do the replacment yourself... and as a tip: get a set of new injectors, don't just buy one to replace the faulty one you have.
