oh dear, problem LANOS 1.6 16v....help me please

Post by UK_REZ_ESSEXRACERS.COM »

ok guys, heres the low down on my problem

right, daewoo lanos 98, 1.6 16v with 60k on the clock, full service history, and no major problems, changed spark plugs and cam belt 6k ago, along with new ht leads. anyway, i was driving along, NOT PUSHING THE CAR, and i lose loads ov power, (later to be told running on 3 cylinders) now this happened suddenly, and the car runs like shit, i got the AA to come, he just said, its not running all cylinders, and towed me home. i havent looked at anything, just wondering what it could be...

could you guys post a list ov things it could be...and if theres any comman faults with these engines. im hoping its simple. i have a mechanic to look at it, but would be good to have an idea of what it is. thanks REZ

pull all the spark plug boots off and look for oil down inside the tube. if you find oil, pull the plugs out and clean them, then look into a new cam cover gasket.

i had basically the same thing happen where the number 3 cylinder stopped firing right because of oil in the tube. just check and see.

it could be that or it could be the spark plug wires, ignition coil or faulty injector... although the injector is higly unlikly to be the problem unless its socket is lose or so.

ok guys, it appears the car run low on oil, and has damaged a TAPPET, No2 cylinder. it could have also damaged the valves. so guys....any idea of the kinda work involved? oh and ihave found out my cam belt is on its last legs, only been changed a few months ago, but it has some marks on it, and its possible it has jumped a tooth, and fucked the car that way.

anyway, had a really bad 2 days with the car, anyone got some advice?
