you would have better luck with gasket in a can because the gasket is notched and goes up in the cover

I wouldn't worry too much.... considering the fact that your pistons and head are made from aluminum it should simply crunch it up and spit it out the exhaust.

Imagine putting your choco-chip on an aluminum plate and then take a giant sledge hammer made of aluminum and smash it.

I bet you barely even scratched the surface.

I bet if you take off the pre-cat you will find chunks of the Choco-Chip.

Hopefully it didn't get into the rings.... it could rub on the side and make a "sticky" spot where the rings run.... which would heat them up big time.

The biggest issue is allways when you suck in an uncompressable fluid like water.... when the valves close the water will only compress a fraction of an inch before the connecting rods, pistons or crankshaft snap like a twig.

Solid parts are really only a major worry in a turbo system.... if the choco-chip had entered a turbine fan it would instantly self destruct (since the fan is travelling at 50,000 to 200,000 RPM and is made of thin materials )

i figured i'd use this same post for this...

when i was doing all my monkeying around today, i decided to look at the timing belt just for kicks and giggles. it seems as though something is eating my timing belt into two parts...

the belt is oh, i dunno, and inch or so wide and there is a 1/4" groove cut all the way around... almost all the way through. there are some spots that have worn all the way through... i'm going to the ac delco store in town tomorrow to get another and having it fixed later this week... but i was wondering what could be causeing that... the idler pulley? the groove is on the outside... i don't quite understand... i'll post a pic in the morning so everyone can see what i'm talking about. who knows, this may have been covered in another post already... but i've gotten awefully worked up over my woo recently so i want to get eveything nailed down here... :D

you got something eating up your timing belt man!

you need to replace that belt immediatly... no one knows how much longer can it hold and you need to see what is rubbing on that belt.

during the belt repacment job, inspect every plastic part from the belt cover case and all arround the belt.

the tensioner is pressing on the back side of the belt indeed but it is made of a very smooth pully so it can't make such damage... also you said you see kevlar shreds... look for damage on kevlar parts all arround the belt that can come in contact with the backside of the belt.

first get that t-belt fixed or else you'll be $$$ replacing an engine.

I wouldn't drive it until you get it replaced.
