With regards to the rev limiter..... there is no power to be had by increasing the redline.... power drops off heavily past 5500 RPM.... by increasing the redline you'd simply be putting more stress on your engine and end up going slower.
If you don't like your ratios.... and you want gears to last longer.... you can get different final drive gears.... but again.... it will make your car slower.
so shifting to the next gear at 5500 RPM will make you go faster than shifting at 6000 or 6500 RPM??
shifting at 6000 or 6500 will make it so you shift into the next gear closer to peak range, if you shift early your RPM's will be lower and it will take longer to hit the sweet spot in the RPM's and make the most power.
