WTD: Newer Lanos....something cheap

Post by kinkyllama »

I'm looking from anything from a shell to a complete running, dent free car. Miles aren't really too important. No major accidents. I dont mind fender benders but dont want something that has dents all over the place. Engine isn't important, rather have something not running just so it's cheaper.

I plan to replace most of the suspension, and engine right away. Would like a well working tranny though. I need something close to AZ though, and if it's not in AZ it does have to be realiable enough to drive back here, still not too far, I'm thinking within 12hr drive.

Cheers

Did you check out Autotrader.com ??

I noticed two cheap lanos.... one for $1500 and another for $1295 ( restored salvage title) .... both located in Phoenix.

You probably won't find anything running cheaper than that.

Most blown engine Lanos's go for $500 to $900 depending on options and location.... but the cost of driving out some place and towing it back can end up costing you more than if you bought a new one.

Yes I did after the post. One is a/t, the other doesnt list. I'm looking for m/t, forgot to say that in the wanted add.

I wish I could find a blown one, and am looking. I have an extra 2.0l that I'd put in it and I can borrow a trailer from a friend and truck from my Dad so towing wouldn't be bad at all. I just dont know where to look for cars like that.

I don't know how long it would be for you to drive to Oklahoma but I remembered this being posted on the classifieds part. The motor is shot but everything else is supposed to be good.

Still looking... I stopped for a little while due to cash but now I'm back and still not having much luck. Found a really nice one for $1,900 that I could have probably gotten for $1,500 with cash but it was in Cali, I found a ride less than a week later and it was sold.

why not just get a Lemans, they are the exact same chassis with different panels and you can get them for around $500 running in decent shape.

you could always rebadge it as a daewoo racer if you're interested in making a statement as to what can be done with a woo. ;)

Also worth mentioning is that the Lemans is 200lbs lighter than the Lanos.... I figure it should be possible to get one down under 2000lbs.

The suspension is identical to the Lanos, engine is identical, they use the F16 instead of the D16 so they are a "cable" clutch system instead of hydraulic.

Dimensions are basicly the same ( wheel base, engine bay ) but I think the Lemans roof is a slight bit lower.

Basicly anything you could think of putting on a Lanos would fit on a Lemans.

Also keep in mind that these are truely Daweoo vehicles manufactured in Korea ( VIN number is similar to Lanos )

In fact, most of the parts have a Daewoo logo on them with a GM part number.

+1

to be more accuate the lanos and the GSE lemans are nearly identical....

there is couple differences between the standard lemans and lanos. as standard the lanos has bigger vented rotors and the splines in the front hubs are like the GSE and none of the other lemans.

i was just thinking (i'm not entirely sure it would work but it should) a Lanos with a Lemans front clip would look pretty wild, almost like a mini BMW 318ti.

the only hang up would be the body lines on the fenders.
