How to: Replacing your Fuel Filter

1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to "How to: Releave fuel pressure" at this link

CAUTION: The fuel system is under pressure. To avoid fuel spillage and the risk of personal injury or fire, it is necessary to relieve the fuel system pressure before disconnecting the fuel lines.

2. Disconnectt the negative cable on the battery.

3. Remove the inlet/outlet fuel lines by first pressing the connector lock inward...


and then pull the hose off of the tube.


4.Pull the filter off of the retaining clamp.


5. Be sure to note the flow direction. the direction is marked with an arrow on the filter's body that says "flow", make sure it points towards the fuel line going tot he fuel rail.


6. Place the new fuel filter in the clamp


7. Connect the inlet/outlet lines. Secure the lines with the connector lock.


8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

9. Turn the ignition on (don't start the engine yet) so the fuel pump builds up pressure then check for leaks.

some people were having issues with the fuel filter connections as daewoo used this connector for some reason on some cars... i am sure the reason was anything other than convinence as the thing is a PITA to remove.

fortunatly a fellow woo owner came up with a trick to go arround that probelm:

Just take the door trim tool (the one for taking off the horseshoe clip on the window crank handle) and jam it between the black part and the filter intake and yank that sucker right out. It took me like 5 seconds!!! Then, you gotta take off the clip on the intake of the new filter (a little peice of plastic, comes right off). Then put the new filter in and connect the intake line till it clicks. The output has a clip and is very easy to tell when it's in. Hopefully this'll help anyone else having trouble!!!
