12psi is a little more reasonable and achievable if large sums of money are thrown at the car ( got $10K kicking around ? )
You may find that some of the 2.0L turbo parts will bolt up with the 2.2L Leganza motor but you would have to try it and see.
12psi would move your 2.2L up to about 4.0L (in a perfect world)
I would guess that relates to an increase in horsepower of about 80%.
If the 2.2L block is just a "stroked" 2.0L then you might even be able to squeeze 15psi out of it if you were very carefull with the install and tuning procedures.
Since your 2.2L won't have forged pistons like my factory turbo 2.0L you may have to invest in a total engine rebuild with forged performance parts all around.
Given atmospheric pressure is 14.7psi your absolute pressure would increase from 14.7psi to 29.7psi.
This would bump the volume of air/fuel from 2.2L to about 4.4L which would result in a power increase of about 100% ( in a perfect world)
The reason I say " in a perfect world " is because the more pressure you have the more heat that is generated during compression and this leads to a reduction of volume.
Pressure X Volume = (nR) X Temperature
So if your pressure stays the same but your temp goes up then your volume must go down to satisfy this equation.
Less volume = less power
If you could somehow manage to use a huge intercooler (water to air??) and managed to get the 15psi pressure back to normal atmospheric temperature your 2.2L engine would put out the equivilent power of 4.4L naturally aspirated engine.
So don't get cheap with the intercooler.... heat is bad.... heat will rob power and can lead to detonation.

thats the kind of information i need, wut is forged?, i can add 2 fans to my intercooler for better cooling like my cooling on my computer, it does nothing if the radiator is sitting but when a high CFM fan is blowing on it it can keep temperatures down to ambient http://www.jaycorptech.com/showproduct. ... tegoryid=2

There are two types of pistons.... forged and cast.
Cast is when they make a mold of the piston and pour in the metal to make the shape of the piston.
This is a very simple easy and cheap so it's the most common method of producing factory engine components.
Forged is usually a piston made out of a solid piece of metal which is then machined to the specifications as the cast piston. The machining process is also sometimes coupled with hydraulic forming where they take a hydraulic ram and crush the metal into a particular shape.
By applying several hundred tons of force it shapes and strengthens the metal due to compression.
So basicly cast=cheap/weak and forged = expensive / strong.
So if you want really strong engine components you have to take out your cast components and replace them with forged components.
Unfortunatly not all engines have forged components available so some times you have to get the parts custom made to fit you car.
The good thing about a forum like this is that if you need custom forged components there are usually a half dozen other guys that want the same thing ( which helps reduce the cost )

30 psi!!!!! i dont even dare run that on my eclipse! 18psi for racing, 14 for dailydriving, but my car is turbo from the factory, i say you would be safe running 5-7psi.
