Since your doing drag racing I'm not sure if I'd recommend it. I think thats the same size as my turbo, which wont spool up untill around 3-4k rpms which is a bit high if you wanna drag race.

4,800 is a waste.. then it'd stay spooled past redline probably. If I remember right the turbo I got should reach full boost around 3,300-3,500rpms and stay spooled all the way to redline.

would that make any difference? i mean with a turbo you don't worry about intake restriction, lenthes and all... some people even said that port and polishing won't do nothing if you are going to boost the car... right??

Port and polish is less important with forced induction, it still will improve power, but the money is better spent elsewhere in the build.

With NA, the engine has to suck in all the air it can all on its own. So the smoother and larger the ports the better - since you get better airflow and less restriction in the intake.

With boosted applications, the turbo/supercharger is forcing air into the cylinder. So air 'flow' becomes less of an importance (since its now getting all crammed in there). This is where pressure level/compression ratio becomes more important on the air side of the equation.

+1.

You'd get such an un-useable power band if it spooled that late and probably rev past redline everytime...

Spooled around 3000rpm sounds much better!

so my point still stands, VGIS on or off won't make a difference... or maybe too little difference to worry about.

Too little to worry about.
Have a drive in the 2.0L Nubi turbo and then tell us what you think 8)

You cant compare a lightly modified NA with port+polish, to even a basic budget turbo conversion - there is no comparison.

Port + Polish NA = Oh I feel it pick up a bit better/quicker :)
On boost = Hold on
