does anyone know if the valves are the same between the original 2.0 16v and the newer ecotec 2.0/2.2 16v?

I never did get a chance to look it up.... but I do think Efrain is correct... I think the C20LET/C20XE valves are bigger.
I'm not sure what your getting at here..... are you looking for replacement valves or bigger valves????
Our valves are the same as the X20XEV "Ecotec" valves..... so you should be able to get them in stainless and inconel... and they probably make oversized valves.
I wouldn't doubt that it would be possible to machine the head to fit the larger XE/LET valves..... not exactly cheap.... and I don't know how much you will gain from it.
