Leganza Transmission Problem

Often when i turn on my engine in my Auto leganza the transmission lever gets stuck in Park, and requires a decent amount of motivation to shift, anyone know of any possible way to fix this?

you have to have your foot on the brake before it will let you move out of park

on another note, you wouldn't happen to know the engine name of the 2.0, as i have an almost identical car, albeit the 98 model?

Yeah, i know about having to push down the brake, i always have, but it doesnt help.

According to the emissions label under my hood, the engines a C20SED, hope it helps.

thanks, they should be the same as mine is an australian delervered one. Actually your problem could be with the switch on the pedal. After they replaced the tail light switch in my car with a toyota one i havent had to be on the brake to get out of park, so your switch might be broken. On the same note, do your tail lights work??

Yeah, my brake pedal pressure sensitive 3rd brake light works fine

There's a switch under the brake pedal that is probably going bad.
