need help please...

ok i have a 2000 daewoo leganza and recently it has become very hard for me to change from 2nd to 3rd gear, and 3rd to 4th gear...if im sitting still and try to go through the gears it is almost impossible to get the car into 3rd or 4th...and when downshifting i have to ease it into those two gears of it grinds...i was wondering if someone could please help me and tell me what the problem is...someone told me that it might be the sincros in the tranny...but i dont know...thank you again for your help

In my car when start that problem.Y change the tranny oil.and filter

jorge:i guess the man was talking about a manual tranny.

byrnsie012: what you 've been told is correct... also check your tranny oil level before tearing the tranny.

thanks...yeah i didnt like the idea of the sincros going cause thats not good...where is the fil plug located on the tranny do u know? thanks again

On a 5-speed, the shifting problems may also be caused by the following:

- worn out/damaged shifting mechanism bushings (on top of the gearbox)
- air in the hydraulic clutch system (possibly leaking - check the hydraulic fluid level)
- worn-out clutch and/or pressure plate (clutch is not fully disengaged)

thank you tom...yeah i thought it was the bushing at first...plus its the easiest fix so i was hoping it...ill have to check it out closer tomorrow

you are right Tom but such issues will be associated with problems in all gears (if it is clutch related) or on gears at the same side (1-3-5 or 2-4)... maybe it is not this way all the time but in most cases it does.

thanks guys it was actually the bushings...seems to be working out alright ill just keep the fingers crossed and stop drivin like an idiot
