grinding on high revs

Post by FaWEeToO »

hey guys can u help me with this issue plz?

when i step hard on the gas and going from 2nd to 3rd it grinds and a little bit hard to get it on 3rd, it only happenes when i`m steping hard on gas, even if the clutch is fully pressed or shifting normaly (slowly) it still grinds if the revs r high and thats only on 3rd.

possibly a broken engine or tranny mount? or is it the bushings?

thanks in advance,

Your supposed to let off the gas when pressing in the clutch. But it sounds like your syncros are shot, probably from reving really high when shifting
Aveo that moves! Now I need those cams!

if a bushing or mount was messed up you wouldn't be able to shift when the engine was off. turn the car off and take your foot off all three pedals and shift through the gears... if you're still locked out of thrid without excessive force... it's a bushing or mount or perhaps connecting mechanism

if it sounds like a itty-bitty gear spinning against another gear that isn't (teeth grinding) and the shift lever rattles in your hand while doing it... it's most likely a synchro issue (engine must be running to hear this and you must be moving)

someone correct me if i'm wrong in that...

Same exact problem here. When shifting at 6k+ rpm it grinds only in 3rd... so I really have to punch it in there hard.

You all need to check your Manual trans fluid... wich usually needs to be checked every 12 months or around 15,000 kms.

Mine used to grind when shifting to 2nd and 3rd. I used Mobil 1 Manual transaxle fuild 80W and the sound was gone. the trans has a capacity of 1.8L

IF you're not missing gears (3rd in this case) when shifting there're should be no problems with your synchros.

i had my car for almost 60000 Kms and i never checked it  ... i got no complains though but i have to get off my ass and check it 'cause the last thing i need now is tranny problems, probably will leave that tot the mechanic as i don't know where is the bolt i am supposed to take off to check the oil level.

BTW: does the tranny fluid need changing?? i got a 1.5 SOHC and 5 speed manual tranny.
