Post by MMamdouh »

i know the manual says the oil is not to be replaced and i should only make sure of the level but i got to ask you guys anyways: do you see that it is advisable to replace the manual tranny oil in our woos at some given milage? and if yes what would be the appropriate milage to do so??

I don't know why the manual would say to NOT replace the oil ever .......... LOL

But from every other manual trans, you should change the oil (aka MTF) at a certain point. I guess when you change it would depend on how hard you drive it. I believe my service manual says it needs a transmission flush somewhere before 100,000 km (can't remember the exact KMs)

If you aren't putting much more power than stock, you can probably change the fluid with some OEM stuff. However, if you want performance fluid I would highly recommend this:

Thats what I'm using now, but its not cheap lol.

I asked my mechanic to renew the gearbox oil at the last service. Car had done over 115k on the original oil but I now notice it drops into gear smoother and easier.

noticed that too when i flushed the tranny fluid in dad's car but that was done after the ATF suffestion that i discarded after 2 days.

i am asking about that as my woo is almost 7 years old and it is running on the original oil, it only has 65k kms on it (40k miles) so i am not sure if flushing the tranny fluid now is worth it.
