Need 200A Alternator

Post by volonau »

I'm going to be running three amplifiers totaling over 5000 watts rms in my 2001 Lanos 1.5l and I need to install a big alternator does anyone have any usable info on this?
I have found a 200A for the Leganza 2.2L, does anyone know the differences between this alt. and my stock alt.?

Buy 2 yellow top batteries, and you'll be fine.

I'm not to big fan of caps, I had one in my Lumina and I had to change the alt like 2 times, so no more caps for me.

He said 5000rms, NOT max. I'm running about 3000max and I have no problems (yellow top, grounds...). What ohms are you gonna be running this 5000?

Cuz even though im running 3000max im doing 1,500rms @1ohm and 250rms@4ohms

Remember the capacitor function is stablish the voltage. The power amplifiers can be damage by the voltage down extremly the cap help to mantain the voltage.

My sub amp is a Clif Designs CDX20A. My PA FU15-4's will be wired to 1 ohm. The 200A Legenza alt. is not a stock alt. its an after market unit.
I am building for street max 1-2 db drags which limits you to one battery under the hood and one 1f cap.

Ohhh the limit are one bat. Ok put a 1200amp. bat. And what gauge of cable do you have? Put a big gauge cable. And check the alternator good option... But for what big amp if you have only one bat.?

i am running a 2000w sterio (a 400w amp and a 1600w amp) and i have no troubles with my stock alternator and battery, but for 3 amps you could rig up an off road style twin battery setup or try source a 17 plate battery (like in mercedes 4wd's) but they arent easy to find

Yeah I know this, but it puts a strain on your bat then if your bat can't take your bat will put a strain on your alt.

Caps help with speed!
They store power and can deliver said power to your amplifier quicker than your battery running through 17 ft of wire.
