i was just messing with the wiring harness arround the ECU and i came accross this thing:
it looks kinda like a jumper in the form of a socket... the main socket got 3 wires and the other little part is jumping the #2 and # 3 wires together
no idintifing lables are on the thing except this big sticker that reads 87
some one told me it is a little thing that enables the ECU to detect what octane you are running so i am supposed to be running 87 octane with this current setup? frankly i am not so sure about this statment so i need your help deciding on this one guys.

If you remove that, the car will fall apart at the molecular level.
It is like taking the drain stopper out of a bath tub. Remove it and all the water disappears.
If you unhook that wire, your whole call will fall apart.
Actually, that looks similar to the plug where the seat belt indicator light connects to the seat belt latch that lets you know when you forgot to buckle your seat belt.
what if you remove the socket?? what will happen then??
a friend of mine told me that he did remove it based on the recommendations of a technician in the Daerwoo agency and now the car doesn't sputter at low revs as it used to do... 3rd gear at 30 kms and no hesitation whatsoever.
this sounds tempting but does it have any dopwn sides?? can someone fry or damage his engine or something upon doing that??
to me it looks the same as the plug under my seat, which sends the signal for when I havnt got my seat-belt on. havnt seen a similar connection anywhere else as of yet.
where exactly is that one located?

buy one of those "resistor mods" off ebay, stick that in there, see what happens...
cos with the resistor there will still be a signal going thru it, but just less so if unplugging it changes the car's behaviour you'll notice it... make any sense?

MM, as far as i know, and also based on a Daewoo agency engineer, when u disconnect this socket your car performance will vary depending on the octane u usually use, this socket is an octane code, i know people disconnected it and they had more response from thier cars...
for another idea just to discover more about it, why dont u disconnect it and use an avometer to test the plug which comes from the ECU, try using resistors less and more than the reading u get on the avo, u may find a better result than just disconnecting it. just for trying, and dont worry this wont hurt any part of the engine for just a try, and wont hurt anything at all if u disconnected it forever, as some people did that and no problem detected.
