Passenger side carpet bubbling up, seems inflated almost!
Anyone ever have a problem with their carpeting bubbling up? I went out to my car this morning and as my girlfriend gets in she tells me that there is something wrong with the floor. I go over to look at it and it's all bubbled up about 5 inches and feels like somebody inflated a balloon under it! The whole passenger side was like that. The only thing I could think of was water got in and froze under it (It's winter in Pennsylvania) causing the carpet glue to release the carpet. It felt dry though and my coolant levels looked normal. Not being an emergency I decided to inspect it later and drover about 10 minutes to a gas station. I looked at my coolant levels and they still looked fine. I decided to take the trim off of the floor and look under the carpet. The foam under the carpet was wet (not soaked) but it looked like just water, not coolant and it didn't smell like coolant. I guess since I haven't used the A/C in months that somehow water got in last time it rained or the frost melted. So a couple of hours and 20 degrees later, the carpet looked and felt normal, like it never happened. I have no idea what is going on with it. It's been below freezing plenty of times so far this year and also rained/snowed plenty. Anybody have any ideas?
Well, If your coolant is fine, heater working good and your A/C is working good
(by the way? run your A/C for about twenty minutes every couple of weeks year around. In winter you can run it with the heat temp up. Its good for the system and seals won't dry up and leak)
than it has to be a water leak, like from around the door the firewall or maybe a rust hole or a tear in the floorboard.
Or, maybe your girlfriend spilled a drink on it ?
