Five years of hell!!

Post by TxDAEWOOxT »

Well after 5 years my Lanos is paid off. I purchased it in June of 01. It had 250 miles on it. It broke on me countless times and left me stranded. If it wasnt a thermostat housing it was the timing belt. It has had the head rebuilt twice and fuel pump, starter, slave cylinder(clutch),tie rods and now the transmission is crapping out. It was an extremly rocky road paying $320 a month when i was only 18. I fell behind on a couple of payments and had them defered. So last week friday i made my final payment and now we will see you has the fastest lanos.J/K

Didn't all that stuff get covered under warranty?

I had a power steering pump replaced under warranty as well as a side mirror that cracked on a cold day.

I sold my 2002 Lanos to a friend and she also had a couple of warranty repairs.

Overall neither of us have had any serious problems with the Lanos and the warranty repairs were taken care of just as they would have been if Daewoo had not gone bankrupt.

Other than regular maintenence the car cost us $0.00 in repairs....everything was covered for 5years 60,000miles

I just ask because I've heard of many guys on here who don't seem to know that GMDAT setup a huge fund for current Daewoo owners to cover all costs of warranty repairs.

It seems like the USA dealers that sold Daewoo may have mislead people into believing that they were on there own if the car breaks down.

Hell... my friend even got a courtesy car free of charge when a part didn't arrive on time.... she drove it around for two days until they fixed her Lanos.

I paid $9900 Canadian back when the exchange was 1.5 CDN = 1 USD...... so that's about $6600 USD.... the car was brand new.... last 2002 in western Canada.

It was a plain jane.... no options but it was a good solid car.

The first time the belt broke was my fault. The manual says to change it at 60,000 it broke at 63,000. They didnt cover that on my extended warranty of 75,000. I put most of the perfomance on my car while it was still under warranty. So the warranty went out the window!

Everything that broke was MY FAULT!! I drove that car the hardest it will ever be driven and i deserve it every time it breaks. But when it breaks i always 1up it.

Daewoo covered all the recalls like the airbag bracket. They did not cover the cam positioning sensor because my sensor was not in the lot of the recall.

Ya.... the timing belts suck... it would be wise to do it every 50K if you ask me.

Even if you have performance stuff on your car they can't deny warranty unless it's absolutely obvious that your aftermarket part caused the damage.

Glad to see you stuck with your woo.
