I'd go with pic no.1. The scoop will function as those spacer kits that lift the ends of the hood, and it will look cleaner.

what function are you trying to have for the scoop? intake? cooling? intercooler?
more cooling than anything. the intake is too far to the side for this scoop. and if i do get an intercooler for my future project then if its top mount it'll get air just as good as front mount. unless its in a weird place but even then i'll just get something to direct the air to it.

I'd go with pic no.1. The scoop will function as those spacer kits that lift the ends of the hood, and it will look cleaner.

i planned on just using the spacer idea later so i think i'll go with pic 2. don't know its just seems to be growing on me more everytime i look at it. but i'm still not 100% sure so it can still go either way. i need to look at it from all angles. and take a closer look under the hood b/c i looked at it outside at night so not sure on my options. with all the beams.

for cooling... make it like the srt4... it's easy and there's not as much hood alteration on the woo. plus, it situates the scoop far enough forward that you get coverage ov the entire engine bay (promise you'll get lower intake ambient temp).

good luck!

well i finally got the bumper primered today. i forgot to take pics though. i didn't put it on my car yet. i wanted to jump into the prep work for the hood scoop. i sanded down the hood and striped the clear coat. thats about all i did today. hopefully tuesday the scoop will be on the hood but i know it won't be a pretty sight for another week at least afterwards. oh and i'm gonna go with the scoop facing forward and mold it in the middle of the hood. i'll have an opening for it. it won't be the biggest but it'll still cool down the engine a lot.

okay here are the pics of the hood scoop goin on. i was gonna make a small hole then when i saw how small it would be i just cut over the support beams. it was just more practical in my mind. right now the scoop is just screwed on with six screws. i'm gonna start the molding thursday. that should be fun.

here is how big the hole is. (sorry its fuzzy but i guess i moved at the last moment)

well i left enough of the hood under the scoop for a more cleaner look.

i think it looks pretty center here.

well i started molding in the scoop today. just a couple of layers of fiberglass for now. the first layer i didn't put enough hardener in it so it took forever to dry. i'm gonna be putting about another couple of layers then just use Fiber-All (body filler with fiberglass) to mold it in and make it look good. now i'm just contemplating on how i wanna mold it in. i'm either just gonna smooth is out like a few inches or if i really wanna take the time mold it in like the hood came OEM like that.

okay i have a small problem. sine i cut the hole in the hood i cut one into the heatshield. but the heatshield is full of this fluffy insulation stuff. i don't want that stuff falling in my engine bay and catching fire. i could just use duct tape but i want it to look clean. any ideas? i'll post pics up on my next break.

here;s a solution to make you feel better... just make sure to do the hood spacers in the rear to allow for air to escape over the windshield... you'll have trememdous air-flow under the hood and heat won't be an issue (besides... you havea hood scoop... heat woun't build up anyway)
