Pretty sure they do a 1.3 and 1.5 lanos in the UK.
As for the Civic being "stiff-as-f**k", thats probably why you could get away from him on country roads.
People dont get that lowering and stiffening a car too much is bad for the handeling...
Sure, lowering and stiffening it a bit, will do most cars the world of good, but half of the guys here with their Vauhall Corsa's have them dropped 60mm+ on coilovers and they just skip all over the road..

As for 1.5 - we also have such engines in Lanos here in PL, but never heard of 1.3 Jist curious

the 1.3... also known as a 1.4... aka 1349cc, the 1.3 and 1.5 share the same user manual, so have a look in there. (ie: my user manual contains all the info for the 1.5 lanos aswell as mine.)
i'd hate to see how much i can thrash that civic round country lanes with stiffer suspension and strutbracing on the woo. im lying, i'd love to see how much better i can "out-corner" him. probly would also help getting better brakes on as that could help with braking. altho at the moment my braking is realy gd. had new discs and pads fitted 2 months ago and they're properly run-in now. the new brakes remind me of touring car brakes, at low speeds they are cold and squeek, but once u have to brake at speed they are silent and work brilliant. the previous brakes were shite.
Cargo cultism is a beautiful thing as long as you never fall for it.
