Post by lanos2001 »

well i just got into an auto body class and i'll be posting pics up here on the progress of my WOO.
my plans are to:
fix the front bumper
get back bumper on completely
add charcoal pearl on it
might put on a hood scoop while i'm at it
and whatever else i think of

well heres my front bumper with the fiber glass laid down to fix the crack in it. i'll take pics of it all sanded down too on thursday and whatever else i get acomplished that night.

geezz do you sleep? where do you find the time to get everything done so quickly? lol

I should have mine prepped for paint tonight. I also added some 'tabs' to hold the mesh onto the back of the bumper properly. :-D

yeah i sleep. i sleep all the time. i'm half asleep at work right now. the classes are on tues and thur and are four hours each. the rest of the car will just be prepped for painting this thursday unless i find something else to work on. i'm gonna look for a hood scoop before i go to class tomorrow and see if i wanna mold that in or not.

i had really thick wires holding my mesh in but the fiberglass i used to hold them in are starting to break off so i'm gonna redo those too. actually now that i think about it i probably won't get to the rest of the car b/c my fornt bumper is really thin. i'm gonna reinforce some parts. i'll try to remember to take pics of how thin it is. hopefully in the next two weeks my car will be good to go.

If you ride around with no bumper, be careful with your plastic fenderwells. I once took my bumper off to mesh it and add fog lights and my sister decided to use my car to go to a party. Well No Bumper+Loose Fenderwells+Woo going 70= some really messed up fenderwells, they are all cut up and have holes scraped into them from rubbing the tires so they look like ass. They are not worth replacing if I don't find them at the junkyard, and my sister doesn't want to pay for them.

On the otherhand, have fun with Auto Body Class, it is one of the most useful things for car DIYers. I recently color matched my side mirrors to my car and lets just say that experience from a class would have helped, but they don't look too bad, a can of Duplicolor from Advance Auto Parts matches my stock color exactly.

mine were messed up to begin with. b/c the bumper was just a bit too wide for me to put the inner fenderwell back on so after riding around a bit they eventually just wore down from hitting the tires so its all good. i still have the inner fenderwell just not the front part of it. :D

yeah same here, I got some spare wheel wells but I wanted to wait until I extended the back of the bumper so I can mount them onto it.
