Back in the shop

Post by TxDAEWOOxT »

I have put my car in the shop once again.

This trip im going for a new

rear main seal-
clutch,bearing.....
water pump
tensioner
pully
timing belt
O2 sensors primary and secondary
plugs and wires
oil change
power steering pump and hoses

My mechanic is charging me $700 to do it all. Hes not charging to do the
easy stuff. He told me he would do the oil change, plugs and wires while hes at it.
I thought it was a fair price for pulling the tranny, pulling the water pump and O2
sensors. All the other stuff he would have to take off anyways so i am replacing with new.
My car was in desperate need of an overhaul.

I have got prices and links to the parts i bought if anyone is intrested in seeing what i got.

Went and looked at the car while it was torn down.

The flywheel has got a groove in it where the rivets were showing through on the plate.(need
new flywheel)

The tranny mount was broken and the grommits for the shifting mechanisms are
gone. The oil that my car was leaking from the rear main got
on all my rubber grommits and ate them up. Gonna get a new mount but i think the grommits
for the shifter are going to be hard to come by. Im going to live with the shifter being a little
loose.(i never noticed)

I picked up a used power steering pump and got it to the mechanic. He called me an
hour later and said the pully on the used one was a pressed on pully. The one that is
on my car is a bolt on pully. So back to the drawing board.

@ Mmamdouh is that to much for the work that is being done?

My guy just moved to a new building on the other side of town so he is trying to get his name out. He gave me a special price for the rear main seal. He said it would be $550 for the time by the book at his rate. I jewed him down and he said he would do it for $400 cash. Then i needed a water pump and he said it would be about $300 so that sounds about right.$700 and im getting all the parts he is taking off replaced with new parts clutch, timing belt....... So it was a steal!!
