this absolutly unfair

why try a 1.3 rio?? hell even in here where we get the most pathetic engine we got this car in a 1.5 16v DOHC version and it is damn fast!

also we got the Accent (named as verna) with a 1.5 and 1.6 versions and it is fast as well.

now the matiz, nubira nad lacetti were not even tested... i would like to see clarkson and tell him that the matiz was the small car of the year on Top gear on 99 or 2000 as i remeber beating a toyota Yaris.

and also i would like to see him have a go in the 2.0 Nubira or even a 1.6 one... not to mention how sexy the lacetti looks.

in the end i see this whole demostration is miss leading or at least they shouldn't blame Korean cars for the pathetic packages they get in the UK... even in Egypt we got better engines than thoes were tested.

BTW what is the point of a 3 cyl. diesel engine anyways?

They were right on one thing... Korean cars (in general) don't have great gas milage and are pretty slow. If you drive WRX carefully, you'll get same gas milage as my Lanos. Now, if I floor my Lanos all the time, WRX would probably get an even better milage (also floored).

the other thing you have to consider with clarkson, and top gear in general... is that the majority of the cars they test are super cars or high end luxury cars. when you compare (in you rmind) the lacetti with the audi a8... the audi wins, hands down. i think that's kinda how that show works. they don't take all the factors into consideration as far as realistic comparisons go.

they will compare costs and things and give you a good idea about a car... but as far as their opinions go... it's just biased i think.

the series is interesting to watch, though you have to take it with a grain of salt

Do they show them on TV? If so, what channel/time? Thanks!

top gear used to be on TLC (it's edited to remove a lot of the british stuff like the celebs that race... the british version is a full hour with no commercials)

5th gear used to be on tech-tv/g4... then it moved to spike... now? i dunno... it wouldn't be hard to figure out.

if you get bbc (like digital cable) you can see the real versions of top gear. after the 1st of the year when i get my daewootech ftp space... i'll put a few of the episodes up a month for everyone to download and watch. i have the entire 2004 and 2005 season in true british format (which is also hdtv for those of you with cinema displays... WIDE screen)

according to tv guide... neither are playing on cable now

but have no fear... by mid january... i will have some episodes posted (i'll throw up some good ones... the ariel atom, the evo, the lotus exige out manuvering an apache helicopter, the ferrari f-40, etc)

every episode has something kinda stupid in it...

race: pigeon versus a ford sport ka

darts: shooting cars with a pnuematic cannon over a cliff

jumping "boundy castles" with an ice cream truck

what's faster to southern france... an aston martin DB9 or the tev train

most of the info is useless to americans anyway... but it's very entertaining
