Watching your video makes me wish I wish I had video coverage from the night I smashed my front suspension.... imagine what you were doing.... at higher speeds on dry pavement
360's.... "rockford" 180's.... Tom didn't catch much.... he was too busy holding on for dear life in my friends 350ZX.
Oh....... and I disagree about the drifting.... if you get an Optra 5 up to about 40 miles an hour, down shift and drop the clutch as you go around a corner and then give a quick jerk on the handbrake (on for 1 second then off)..... you will be drifting.... sure it's not like the RWD cars..... but your ass end will rotate around the corner with your wheels fully locked in the direction of the skid.
The nasty part is when the rear tires finally grip.... the whole car slams you sideways and rotates the other way (which is what happened when I hit the curb)
The only part of the entire night that was on video was the part where Tom filmed me being a dumbass and smacking into the curb.... but it should be fun to watch anyways.
I shouldn't have hit the brakes.... I thought I could stop in time... oh well.... better luck next time

i always make sure that my H brakes are functioning to their best... if the car is moving and the H brakes is lifted the rear wheels will lock and make this horrable screaming... works like magic when you need to scare the shit out of pedestrians that are all over the road :lmao:
if the car is parked with the H brake applied then you could only drag the rear arround... good for playing with the car in a sand covered road or in your case snow and ice  ... that reminds me, i still haven't got the Vids from the last meeting from Zikas

The only solution is to go faster..... take the car up to the threshold of grip as you fly around a corner and even a gentle jerk of the handbrake will be enough to break the rear tires loose.AcingTeam wrote:Our Lanos handbrakes are weak... at least mine is. When I rip it even on wet pavement, the car just gradually comes to a stop and the wheels don't lock.Erfinder@PrecisionBoost wrote:give a quick jerk on the handbrake (on for 1 second then off)
Of course I just want to say that the best place for this is in some industrial area or a parking lot where it's a nice smooth surface and there is absolutely nobody around.
You will need lots of room.... my favorite spot is about 300 feet wide and 600 feet long.... just make sure to go through nice and slow to spot any problems such as garbage on the road or big rocks or anything that could affect your slide.
I'm trying to remember... but I think I did most of my slides in 2nd gear at around 5500 RPM.
General rule of thumb: If you act like an idiot you must be prepared to pay like an idiot.
So in plain english.... if you can't afford to severly fuck up your car.... don't do it.
I have a couple extra vehicles I can drive.... so when I destroyed my front suspension I was able to park the car for a month while I fixed it up.
Only cost me about $150 to replace the control arm, stabilizer bar and stabilizer link.... all the parts were bought used except for the stabilizer link.
