I don't advise you to watch it if you are a Viper fan.
The download gets a lot of disconnects so better be armed with proper download tools or use Firefox.

Tiff Needell is indeed a better driver... probably the best car driver on God's green earth.
it doesn't matter who won, it only matters how the car handles so if you got two regular drivers with no racing back ground to do the same test, the one in the Viper will crash for sure due to the handling issues it have... it is not always about power, you got to be able to nail all that power down and keep it under control.
the Viper only won as it have loads of torque (8.4 liter) that made it accelerate faster and take the first corner... the Corvette was always in the tail of the Viper most (if not all) the time.
a better andling car is way more fun to drive... you can keep that power slid on for longer time.

I've never seen anyone power slide in an actual race on a road course

no body does that but it gives much better feel to how the car handles... that was not a real race rather that a handling test.
if that was a real race then the Viper would have gone faster off the line and make a little gap... the Corvette will catch on on the very first corner so that the Viper driver will freak out and try to push harder on corners (as it is the place he lost lots of time) and most probably on the second or third corner he will go into a spin and lose first place then he will struggle even more trying to get back on top.

i dunno why everyone bashes the viper like that... they win consistently in their classes in the na le mans and in the fia gt classes... (like the team oreca ones)
i mean, you don't race stock cars anyway... and any true enthusiast doesn't leave the suspension stock if they are gonna push the car like that...

Yeah but in the races like that most the cars are equal though anyways. Whoever wins has the best setup for the car for that day and the best driver... nearly all the cars are probably the same track time wise.
I know it wasnt a real race but powersliding doesnt really give you a good feel for handling. At least i wouldnt think so. You wouldnt be able to pinpoint strengths or weakness in handling as well either.

That's why I was trying to defend it by saying that the driver sucked in the viper.Audacityracing wrote:i dunno why everyone bashes the viper like that... they win consistently in their classes in the na le mans and in the fia gt classes... (like the team oreca ones)

well... you got a point guys but let me say that a power slid is a highly fluid setuation and if you want to keep it going for a long time you need some serious work throught the steering and throttle... not to mention that the suspension got to do with that yet you can't control it driving wise.
if the steering wheel is not giving you the proper feedback and respons and the throttle is too much on a knife edge or lacking response then good luck trying to get it right.
the best cars i ever saw doing powerslids were the Beemers and apparently they got much less power than either the Viper and the Corvette so engine power is not every thing involved in handling.
i don't know about the guy in the Viper... it is my first time to see him but i know Tiff so if he driven the Viper i would have said "that was a fair test" but now i can't really tell, one thing i am sure of: the Corvette is one hell of a car.

Yes mmamdouh, it is handling.
As for beemers, see the link to a video I posted much earlier in this same forum folder:

Seems like MBs can do it just as well too.
