1999 Daewoo Leganza CDX Loud noise

I own a 1999 Leganza CDX and I am getting a loud noise when driving, I think it might be a muffler or a catalytic convertor, but not sure as it doesn't happen allways. Is it possible it is tranny, yet the car is shifting smoothly and runs great. Does anyone out there have a similar problem, and is there a solution.

for a fast exhaust check, block the tail pipe while the engine is idling... if you got holes or so you will here this WOSHHHHHH sound underneath the car.

use a rug to block the exhaust so that you don't burn your hand.
