did it again... painted my dash in silver
after i did it on dad's car... it was time to do it on mine... got pics for the process and the finished product:
preparation... sand paper and masking:
Paint:
a real PITA to get this finish and even more PITA to install with the fragil havc control cables:
final product:
so what do you think??? was it worth the effort... sniffed some 1 liter of paint thinner during the process)

im not into the flashy stuff, i used to want a carputer, but that faze passed, lol. i just think that air bags are over rated, yeah they save lifes, but they also cause damage that could have been avoided. take for instanc the accident my fiance was in, she was hit from the front drivers side of the car (the lady hit her driver front fender, kinda like a t bone accident) she was hit from the side doing 5 mph (pulling out of a gas station, the lady was flying down the left hand turn lane) she would have been fine, but the airbags went off, causeing her head to get all knocked around, messing up her neck, and she got air bag powder burn pretty bad from it too. if her car didnt have air bags she would have been FINE.
Have heard horror stories about both airbags and seatbelts. Personally, I'd favour a seatbelt of an airbag any day. It's just a pity they don't restrain over time rather than instantly, the impulse of the force would be a lot less, reducing the damage you take. But, airbags are so sudden. Massive impulse force especially seeing as it's in the opposing direction.
I dont really care for airbags. If i had or hadnt got them, it wouldnt make a difference to how safe I felt. Having a seatbelt though, yeahhhh, I'd never feel safe in a car with no seatbelts. Think something to do with being in an Opel Ascona rear seat doing ridiculous speeds had something to do with it, they've no seatbelts int he rear
But anyway. That dash looks reallywell. I personally didnt think it'd look nice when I read the title of the thread but the outcome looks very nice, neat and really well suited to the shape etc of the dash. I like it

it is a secret... i wont tell youbuddha102 wrote:how the hell did u remove the AC bs i cant get it out!
FUck!
P.S. Looks really good, i did the same thing but i could not remove the climate control
really it is easy... don't try to remove the control cables from the A/C control panel... instead remove the other end of the cables:
air direction cable ends at the area beside the driver's right foot (LHD)
recycle switch cable is behind the glove box to the right side(remove glove box)
cold/hot switch cable is also behind glove box but to the left side
doing so gives way more room for hand work and maneuvering and reduces the risk of breaking the plastic ends on the cables to the bare minimum... you are only left with the two electric sockets you yank out and you are out
detaching the cables is easy... just tilt the plastic protrusion in the direction of the cable and it is out... can use a flat end screw driver to hep IF necessary
