Oil Level in D16 transmisson
How to check the oil level in a D16 gearbox?
Is there any sensor that will light up any engine check light if the oil level is too low?
The reason I am asking is because there is some leak at the top cover either at the shift shaft seal (o ring rubber seal) or the top cover gasket. I replaced both of the gasket and o ring seal. But now am unsure of the amount of fluid inside. Is there anyway to check?
Or should I drain out the oil and top them up again? Whats the quantity to top up?

their is a level control plug right next to the right prop shaft on the tranny case... oil level should be up to the hole
D16 tranny takes 1.8 liters of W90 oil

Level control plug? Is it something like a dip stick or transparent glass viewed through a inspection window?
I don't remember seeing any glass area when the tranny is out when I changed the final drive ratio, 4Kg flywheel and clutch
Anyway, thanks very much for your reply. You certainly helped me a lot all these while. One of the valuable asset of this forum.

nope... the plug is at the other side
it is a square shaped plug on the side of the tranny case and oil level should be up to the level of the hole (when you remove the plug then a couple of drops will come out of the hole or at least you would be able to touch the oil when you insert your finger in their
