Burning way too much gas...

Post by AborteK »

I Scanned the car, came back i had a bad TPS (throtle position sensor).

Question i have could this be causing me to run too rich and burn my spark plugs?

Obviously this is the problem im having with idle, 2,000rpm or 850rpm

but could it also cause me to run reeeaaallllyyyyy rich

i have an a/f ratio gauge installed on my 1st O2 sensor on my headder and its reading rich all the time even @ idle, didnt used to be like that.

Any info might help since i have machanical experience but not on Woo's.

well...still bad luck...

Ive Changed

Fuel Filter
TPS(throtle position sensor)
spark plugs
spark plug cables
had a fuel pump change about 5 months back
headwork was done after overheating, machined.
all new gaskets from head-up
did- idle learning procedure

note: i did remove my cat- converter. Dont know if that can cause such a gas usage, never happend on other cars ive had, dont think it to be this!!

car still burning gas, big smoke cloud from exhaust!!!

burns like crazy, a short trip uses up a noticeble amount of gas on my fuel gauge!!!

any any, ideas other than those if done already anything will help a lot!!!!

Hi,

What's the smoke color?

Blue-->oil
Black-->gas
White-->coolant

As buddha102 wrote a defective O² sensor can make a big difference in mileage.
As for air intake temp sensor and coolant temp sensor.

Check all three.

hey guys

I found a Daewoo-GM Authorized Service & Repair shop, they cheked my car, and seems that when my headowrk was done and reinstalled the broke my timing belt tensioner.

This is what was sending my car out of wack.

Once this was replaced, and the timing belt too all was good :D

I might have to change my wiring but no biggie, a few o2 sensors, spark plugs but it will be fine :D
