Moving the battery to the Trunk Good or Bad?
Im thinking about putting the battery in the trunk.... what you guys think?

ive though about it too, ive got a 0 guage power wire and battery box. it helps with even weight distrobution, which can improve handeling. also keeps you batteyr fron the heat of the engine bay. just make sure you vent it if you dont have a dry cell battery like an optima

batteries are expencive. one is jsut fine for every thing you can do to a woo. batteries are also heavy as hell. are you asking what you would do with the spare tire?

put the battery close to your taillight. just make it so it out of the way, its cant be worse that my old speaker box i had, trust me on that

I will slightly disagree with this, I am probably going to need a second one and a 200amp alt to power my stereo in my Nubira. It isn't easy to keep good power going to the amp I am getting which is rated at about 4000wrms. why not put two Alternators on the car? @.@ if it fits...
and @buddha: .... bad idea? could be ticketed for littering.
and @carr: why not take the spare tire out, and put 4 batts in the hole? parallel them.. right? you get all those amps and since its so many.. wont really be a draw..
ive seen a car show on tv where a guy had an suv and have i think 40 batts with copper plate connecting them all.... just an idea..
(looking up for a pic.. i found out you would have to buy a better Alt. >.<)
but back to the topic, it would only be a good idea, if you have a gel battery, so it doesnt leak for even a split second., or the hard banking/railing turns..

The amp I am looking at is an Epsilon EA5000D which is commonly referred to as the Surfboard as it is over 40inch long. Will put out upto about 6,000wrms at 1ohm and 18v. It is basically the same as a Fusion competition amp (FCA-4000D). This amp would laugh at 4 batteries, 8 or 10 may do it justice I don't want to fill the spare tyre well as it is currently filled with my spare tyre and I don't want to get stuck without one (done that before, not fun).
If you do put batteries in your boot it is highly recommended to use a sealed battery. It may be worth checking with your local transport authority also, in some states of Australia you would need to have it in a sealed area which vents to outside the car, other states you don't. Make sure you use a good quality 4 gauge cable or bigger and make sure you protect it with rubber grommits when you go through metal (ie firewall). Ground the battery to a good solid part of the body or if you have a fairly easy route to the chasis then that would be better. It is also a reasonable idea to install extra grounds in the engine bay.

lol. yea... here in the US Optima's are the stuff supposedly. yellow tops are for sound and vibrations as the red tops are for heat.

We have the Optima's here in Australia too. The red top is actually a battery designed for better starting (higher cca) where the yellow tops are a true deep cycle and high cranking, Blue tops are for marine and are available with either red or yellow top specs. The blue top can be handy if you want extra terminals, 1 for stereo, 1 for the not so important stuff

I know this is late but I'm a big car audio guy. Optimas are junk for car audio. I would run a few oddesy batts. I'm putting two in my car. Each has 1800CA and is the size of the nubi stock batt. Also U don't want to hang weight over the rear. What I will be doing is putting a batt in the rear passenger foot well. Also a full size nubi tire will fit in the spare tire well and it weighs less

ive got aoptima yellow and ive never had a problem with it in the last 3-4 years ive had it, ive got a (imo) big system adn ive got no problems
