heat shield important?

heat shield important?
How important is this heat shield? Can I just toss it? My bolts all snapped and it's just sitting there loose. It rattles a lot and I'm also afraid it will cut the sensor wires there, but also don't want anything to melt if I take it off.

well the heat shield is there for a reason, to keep stupid people not touching the exhaust manifold when it says HOT. I took my out, its been off 1 month already, nothing got burned. the wires are same before i took the heat shield out

hmm... decreased airflow? jk
i repainted mine after wirebrush. looked smooth. same with valve cover.
it serves no purpose other than keeping stupid people touching it.

Hi yes i serves a purpose it stops raw heat getting the the A/C and steering hoses... other than that its useless

Yeah I just took it off since it wasn't giving me much of a choice anyway. I have AC but it's all perfectly fine without the heat shield. Anybody thinking of doing it because of a rattle or that it's ugly, looks like it's perfectly fine.
