Engine cuts out

Hi new to this site, does anyone know why my lanos 98 engine cuts out while driving? We had booked it in for a service the morning of that it wouldnt start they towed ot there. Its been there for 3 weeks now had a service,replaced the fuel pump,replaced the coil,reconditioned the comp and comp wont pick up anything. They checked everything possible have taken off exhaust looking at that checked crank sensor and cam and cat. Took it for a drive drove 40 kms b 4 it cut out and then u can drive half a km and cuts out 6 times. Any ideas guys what else it could b.

What is a comp?

You mention fuel pump but not the fuel filter.... which will cause the engine to die.

If it's at a shop that should have been the first thing to look at.

Personally I would cut open the fuel filter and see what it looks like (if you still have the old one or it hasn't been replaced )

You should test the fuel pressure.... it's possible that your fuel pressure regulator is not functional.


Unfortunately this could be an electrical issue, as in a loose connection or poor connection some place on the engine wiring harness..... which is by far the hardest thing to trace for most people ( including shops )

Thats the computer ecu i think they call it,they put the computer in and said it had a lot of faults and repaired it will check out the other things u said. And the comp still isnt picking any faults up. Thanks for your advice will keep u posted.

Update at this stage still not running properly,they have sent back computer to be checked.

i would say the same thing as Precision.
1) fuel filter
2) Fuel press regulator
3) maybe TPS? leans the engine too much
4) low on gas? :P jk
