i would say maybe an oil leak. maybe valve cover or head.
as when oil gets hot it smokes...

I know lol. I pulled the valve cover off today, and also checked compression. I have none in the middle two cylinders. YAY! not :gib: so I think it is the head gasket hopefully. will see tomorrow hopefully will get the head off.

well how many miles on the car? A head gasket doesnt just blow...

So I would pay attention to the cooling system and make sure it is performing to specs.

Or else your going to fix everything and be pulling the head off again soon...

lol to each they own i guess...

I have no problem accepting Daewoos are a pos (cuz they got GM written all over them) but VW? Anything audi/VW post 3rd gen is a step backwards imo.

Then again it is a new car with warranty so enjoy...

meh like I said to each they own. No doubt if performance is your thing anything is an upgrade from a 1.6woo which is nothing but an econobox...

Me personally have lost faith in VW since the mid 90s. My g/f has a vert a4 nothing but headaches...

Dont get me wrong though not bashing your new car at all. Like i said congrats. Just decided to chip in cuz many times Woos get unfair rep for being pos'es when preventive maintance could have prevented a headache to begin with. Liiiiiiike a poor cooling system blowing a head gasket...

Btw just a friendly fyi, stay away from Jettas. The Golfs actually tend to be the most reliable of the flock, but Jettas and Passats are major headaches. Before i went self employed, I used to work at a dealership which was Acura, Kia, VW, and Daewoo. Although I was an Acura tech I got to see first hand from an inside perspective all the warranty issues, complaints etc. Lets just say Daewoo was #2 behind VW.

Google VW complaints if your sceptical, and get ready to read a many articles...
