Cielo Check Engine is on And Then car Stop Help

the car as working fine
suddenly and when driving and going to decelerate or stop the car ,the check engine is on and the idle level start play from 0.2 to 1 and then car stops
the car don't turn off wherever the rpm is above 1.5
some times the check engine is on and the same thing happen when the car is in park and don't move and when pressing accelerating pedal the motor don't respond and hearing a small blowing sound from exhaust
changed sparkplugs,ht cables,coolant sensor
any suggestion please
could it be from desperator rotating gap or cover or maybe the coil

Hi,
Can you give more information about your car/engine/year also your location?
If in US you can look for a free diagnostic somewhere. This is quite impossible in Europe.
In the meantime consider checking throttle position sensor.

i'd suspect the TPS and MAP but since you got the check engine light on then get her scanned and the trouble code will direct you to the faulty sensor

the car is cielo model:1996 motor: dohc 16v and im from lebanon

MMamdouh about check engine its not always on,this happen only when im going to stop the car or the rpm level is below 1000
i checked cleaned idle speed sensor,vacuum is ok (no air leak),ht leads and sparks,connections,now my question could a blocked or not good fuel filter cause that since i didnt change it from a while

On a '96 Cielo you can read stored error code(s) quite simply. Just short pins A & B on your diagnostic connector and watch for engine light flashing, contact ON & engine OFF. Note the code(s) and come back.

Have your car ground serviced in the meantime: fuel filter, air filter, plugs, wires plugs, oil&filter,...

hi again
after i shorted terminal a and b on the obd connector i got the followind respons:

mil led flashes i 1time then 2time (12) this happen for 3 times

then another response is:
mil led flashes 2time then 3 time (23) this happen for 3 times also

then the mil flashes again as the first time and repeat
fuel filter is changed,plugs and sparks changed with ac delco brand
didn't check the oil filter yet ,i checked motor oil and added some to be on teh right level

update: according to autodata code 12 seems as a sign for a beginning of diagonisis process only
error code 23 seems to be intake air temperature sensor voltage is high ,does this sensor may cause a problem i have

Code 23 mean that your engine management is seeing a low air temperature (high sensor's resistance) and add too much fuel. Check for poor mating connexions/disconnected/defective air temperature sensor.

daniel thanks for the help
tomorrow i will check again and replace the IAT sensor if the code still exist
but some one told me that the ecu maybe stored a previous error and display its because when i was work on my car i disconnect the IAT sensor plugg many times and check engine is on directly,is that's right that the code displayed maybe stored on ECU because i disconnect the plug befor,do u suggest to reset ecu(disconnecting negative battery terminal ) befor reading the code again
note: on other forum some one indicated that this maybe caused by a low automatic gear box oil(dont have a stick to test its level),could that cause such a problem
also i need the completer error code chart for my car if possible so if any problem happen again i can check by my self without autodata

Yes you can reset your ECU and watch if engine light come on again after some driving.

But you wrote

I cant' answer since I don't know alot on automatic gearbox.

If you have the 3 speed 3T-40 then there is a dipstick to check oil level.
If you have the 4 speed 4T-40E then you need to remove a screw from oil level hole on side of g/b to check level. The 4T-40E is covered in the Lanos service manual you can find on our forum.

Both trannies have a internal oil filter that need to be checked.
