First off i own a '99 Nubira with a A15SMS Motor in it, I have had the car for about a year and i am really trying to take from Korea to U.S. with me. I have noticed that here in korea they only have C series of engine in the 2l and 2.2l size.
Since very little information is available and korean is not a language i speak well enough. This is my plan I want to go back to the us with a 2.2L motor mated with 4t40-e auto trans that is in it. I am willing to spend some money on a rebuild to take a c20/t20/x20 and use longer rods.
here are the questions
1. The C20 from what i have seen does not have a coil it still runs a dizzy, can a head swap be done with an x20/t20 head that has the cam sensor and bracket for the coil pack?
2. What transmissions does the c20 bolt on too auto wise?
Thank you all in advance
i want the leganza rated torque in my car too 147@2800rpm

Re: Engine Swap Idea
just a question. Why are you wanting to take your car back to the states when you could get a 2.0l nubira for less than the cost of shipping the car? I can understand you might be attached to the car, but it's not like it's rare and unavailable stateside...
You would save a bucket of money by doing that..

Re: Engine Swap Idea
The c20sed also runs the same coil as the a15sms... NOT a dizzy.
Re: Engine Swap Idea
It kinda is rare in my area of the US. The reason I am willing to ship is because I a military member so that is not something I would pay for. So the C20SED has a coil pack that's great news, but what ECU Would i need and would I need a Wiring harness because at least i know the c20/t/20/x20 have a electronic EGR solenoid that the A15sms does not have. Any Knowledge you have would be best cause have down the swap.

Re: Engine Swap Idea
Hey Benzino, did you a write up on your swap i read the thread about your 2k lanos.
Re: Engine Swap Idea
well I can only talk on behalf of AUSDM engines...
when I swapped the C20SED I used the computer that came with the engine and it didn't have an EGR (which i think is the same as the KDM models)
all I did was put power to what needed power on the ECM and grounded what needed to be grounded, added a couple of external fuses to make my job easier and wired the corresponding instrument panel wires.
The wiring was the easiest part of the swap annoyingly...
what about selling your 1.5 nubira and just buying a 2.0 in korea and shipping it over? No offense but it's not the sort of car I'd be exporting... namely something good

Re: Engine Swap Idea
The 2.0L is not paired with nubira in korea only come with A15SMS or A15DMS. It's not the car i would export either but i would want a water-powered turbo H23A1 1992-1996 Honda Prelude Si with 4 wheel steering we all have dreams. I am looking at this from the $ standpoint the engine and swap will be about half the price i paid for the car, i did pay more than what i would I expected about 1,900,000 KRW about $1,550. The engine was quoted at $550 and they also have a partner who can do a rebuild and swap aswell. I don't have a full quote for how much everything would be together but I am looking like this.
another $1000 dollars in a fully rebuilt engine and getting everything in shape or selling it and buying a more expensive used car the mrs. would love 97 mustang autotragic. (automatic) or maybe a 95 volvo turbo 850 we can't afford two cars and us economy is getting better and I am only in the military so gotta think dollars and cent's.
I do like the volvo more than the mustang 2.3L turbo 5 cyl. kinda unique. But it really depends how much everything would cost for the swap.
Thanks for the input btw. Happy New's year to you all.
