Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
Hi Guys. I am quite new to this forum and have a Daewoo Cielo (Nexia) that needs a new engine.Does anyone know if an X20SED(Nubira) would fit the Cielo and if I need to change any engine mountings? If so how do I do it? The current engine in the car is a 1.5 litre 8v.
Here's a pic of the engine. Thanks

if the cielo got the same engine mounts as the lanos then you will find this topic very interesting:

Does help alot. I'm not really sure if the lanos is the same as the cielo but I do know that the opel monza is very similar. The mechanic who is selling the motor said that the mountings are the same and I might need to change the mountings at the front?!?!
Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!

Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it
Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
i have been looking at pics for opel monza and for some reason almost all pics came out for rear wheel drive opels with straight engines... only pic with transversal engine was indeed similar to the daewoo setup

Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
Cool. Im quite sure the engine would fit, just sceptical about the gearbox mounts
Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
if it is the same engine as the one i saw in the pics then your tranny would fit the new engine with no problems... also i think the tranny mounts will be identical

Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
Cool Stuff. I'm gonna buy this engine. I'm sure it will fit. Thanks bro
Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
otherwise, you will need to modify the front engine mount (like in my thread) and you should be able to reuse your stock gearbox mounts on the new gearbox if they are different
Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
I've seen your thread benzino. You make it look so easy . Was it extremely difficult to modify the front mounts or simple? what else do i need to look out for when installing this engine?
Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
Well it was made relatively simple because I purchase the mounts and brackets from gse_turbo on here. They only needed a small amount of modification.
Make sure you have the workshop manual for both cars, especially the wiring diagrams. And make sure you have the knowledge and skills in reading circuit diagrams and transforming them into a physical product.
Also try and do some maintenance on the new engine before it goes in.
Stuff that's hard to do with the engine in the car like oil seals and clutch kit or timing belt. But also be confident about your work otherwise it might not run when you go to turn the key.
I planned this with many sleepless nights for 6 months before i actually started and even then some things you just can plan until you can physically see them in relation to other things.

Re: Help installing a X20SED in Cielo!
Thanks for the advice Benzino. Will definitely be sure of everything before doing it. I will have a mechanic helping me that has a lot of experience and has also worked on the car many times before so I'm quite confident. I received some pics of the actual motor yesterday. What do you guys think?
