those are the ones with the e brake cable going downwards... right?

did you use the OEM e brake cable or did you use the one from the Astra as well?

got pics for the setup after the installation that shows the cables?

yeah. I got the one from the astra because it has different ends on it.
Also, they're not installed yet. I want to get them installed professionally and just haven't had time.

both our cars got a different setup than the one Benzino got

we have the dual piston calipers and the e brake cable is attached to an outside hook which have a return spring



benzino got the single piston calipers and the e brakes goes from under the rear beam then upwards to the e brake liver



i recon he got the advantage with regards to pedal travel as he has one less piston to move at each rear wheel... that will be confirmed when Benzino finalize the upgrade and test the car and tell us how it feels

Some new discs



they are from a Astra G
even though they look different to the earlier astra/daewoo brakes, they have the same dimensions (according to the brembo catalogue) except for minimum thickness and the retaining screw size

so fingers crossed they fit! If they don't it's not a big deal as they were ridiculously cheap (dba was having a clearance sale)

update:
power steering is working great
I have a GTS suspension kit coming from germany, should be here next week... it's modified KYB shocks with 40/30mm springs

the car is currently not being driven because the harmonic balancer has split and is rubbing on the inner timing cover

should be all good next week when i get another balancer
and then will come suspension and the car will FINALLY be lowered!

Well, replaced the harmonic balancer today

probably a good thing too, it seemed like the belt was the only thing stopping it from becoming spun

the outer rim had sunk about 3mm and was rubbing on the inner timing cover


here you can see the difference




it was easily split by hand...


so now, no more noise or "belt squeal" which I now have to wonder if this was my problem all along...
ah well, the electro PAS was an educational experience...

it's also now fully engineered and completely street legal

replaced the AUDM 85 amp alternator with the USDM 105 amp alternator
as well as re-conditioned 200cc design III bosch injectors

was going to replace the TB as well but the pulley needs to be changed over as we got a round pulley but the USDM model has an oval pulley

I also repainted my wheels satin black



alt. sitting pretty (I had to use a 5pk890mm belt so it wouldn't rub on the inner guard, I also had to drop the alternator a little to put the belt on; the new bracket really makes that much of a difference!) pic shows test fitting with old 2x3pk895- that didn't work
also note the bracket on the strut tower I had to rip off so I could get the old alternator out; 2.0L lanos' sure are a tight fit!!!
