Hi guys new here.
We have a Daewoo Nubria 2000, with the 20 engine. I love this wagon even though we have spent a butt load of cash keeping it on the road!
Which brings me here! A roller bearing went out and the motor bent all 16 valves! Got the head off and rebuilt and reinstalled ordered a t belt kit off e bay, got all the rollers bearings and the tensioner in place and now I can't get the T belt on!
I have tried, putting the bottom on first, putting the exhaust side on first, putting the edge ov er the cam gears (which doesn't work because that's the problem!
Also I looked at the timing belt DVD done by Autozone, they use an Isuzu Rodeo I think, it's a 4 cylinder that is my motor! I recognized just the whole layout it jsu uses a different roller arrangement because it's not FWD. Anyway he started the belt install from the bottom, worked his way up and the belt went on no muss no fuss! What am I missing?
Also on the video he made a lot of fuss about the water pump and marked and index point on it? I'm using ALLData.com it never said anything about indexing the water pump? I rotated it till it fell into place, the little tab thing is at about 11 o'clock, that seemed to me to be the only way it would fit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You don't need to touch the water pump, you can play with the tentioner using an allen key.
The easiest way i found is to start the belt from the intake cam gear, work your way down thru the water pump, tensionner and the crank pulley. Try to keep decent tension on the belt.
Once you are on the other side of the crank, go back up put the belt over the exhaust cam then you can just slide it over that last dummy pulley located just under the exhaust cam wheel.
Once you figure out that trick it's a piece of cake to put the belt on, the hard part is aligning the timing correctly, a friend to help you works wonders.
I had to take the belt off like 20 times and reinstall until i got the timing right, 90% of the time either the intake or exhaust cam gear was 1 tooth off.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Re: Nubria 2.0 Timing belt won't go on!
I changed out all the components, rollers, tensioner and water pump.
Not trying to adjust the belt with the water pump. The guy on the Autozone DVD went on and on about indexing the water pump. It seemed to fit only one way? I rotated it till the tab was at eleven o'clock and it seemed to fall into place. I went back and looked at the water pump though. I filled the car with anti freeze and now I see coolent at the bottom of the water pump, it's not dripping but it's wet!
WTH!! If I pull the pump off is the original gasket still good? Can I use it again or do I need a new water pump gasket?
I'll try your suggest on the belt, thought I'd tried everything but maybe not? I have never done a DOHC, so I don't know how difficult getting the belt on is suppose to be?
Thanks for the input!
PS your car's spec's are impressive!
