Be careful, the stock rod bolts won't take much past 7k and I think the rods are limited to 7.5k, this is if you have the 16v 1.4. If its an 8v the stock rods are limited to 7k. 7.5k if prepped, ie shotpeening etc.

but the rods are limited to it? darn was hoping the valve springs where as they are easy to replace

I wouldn't really like to remove it. Just raise it 1000-1500 rpm's

you would still need to change the springs to prevent valve float at the higher rpms

ok so i have a question the ecu has to be getting an input from the engine somewhere has anyone tried to find the source and do away with it and see what it would do whether it would screw the ecu up to the point of not running.
just wondering

The cam and crankshaft sensors that give the ECU the RPM levels

The ECU needs these timing signals to fire the ignition and injectors.

Mess with them and your engine won't function.

Unfortunatly Wolf-Spirit is correct..... you can only do it by modifying the ECU programing.

And Stefan's warning about the connecting rod bolts should be taken seriously..... this is a major week point of these engines.

acctually, you can buy piggy back units that will remove the rev limiter. There are some on the market. If the engine limits the revs by cutting fuel, you get a fuel cut defense. YOu can also get an ignition cut defense to not allow the ecu to limit the rpm band. If you ask me, it really doesn't make sense to move the rev limit if you haven't done anything to strengthen the engine. YOu really won't make that much power at high revs and you wiull run the risk of valve float and also the crakshaft might not be balanced at that high of a rpm, causing serious problems

yeah, I suppose I was just curious (again) more than anything, lol...but is it actually possible to damage the engine if you reach the rev limit (6.5k revs or there-abouts)?

actually ive been reading up on the Greddy E-manage unit im looking to buy for my turbo setup, it says it can set the fuel cut lower in the car, i wonder if this would alter the limiter also
