Impossible... or nearly. HELP!!!
I hit the 80,000 a few months ago and finally got around to changing the timing belt and water pump on my 1999 Daewoo Lanos 1.6L. I've timed my other Daewoo with little problems, but this one seems impossible. I have pictures of the current settings. Its as if the thing refuses to line up on the cam shaft pulleys. It keeps getting a half tooth off which seems impossible, but if the intake is half off and the exhaust is half off, that makes a full tooth off, right? Anyways I timed it as shown in the pictures last night and decided to just try it. It cranked and ran fine, but had a loud ticking of valves. So I tried it again today and it still lines up as in the pictures. The funny thing is that the factory belt (the one that came off when I replaced it) and marks were lined up exactly. What gives???

Looks fine for me. OEM timing belt?
Still loud noise? Take compressions.
