Turns over but dont start 2002 Leganza
Just did a valve job on my 2.2 leganza. put it all back together and got all 3 timing marks dead on. turn it over to start and I get a pop out of the intake. There is compression. What is the compression on a 2002 Daewoo Leganza 2.2.
Re: Turns over but dont start 2002 Leganza
There are two timing marks on each cam gear, one for inlet and one for exhaust... Make sure it's on the right mark.
Re: Turns over but dont start 2002 Leganza
yes the marks are right and dead on..it acts like it wants to start , then there is that pop from the intake... what is the compression for that,do u know? and also by chance do u know the key cycle to reset ?
Re: Turns over but dont start 2002 Leganza
Looking at the cams. The cam in the front has a straight line for a mark and a triangle. The rear cam has just a straight line. The valve cover has a triangle as a mark in the front and a knotch for the rear one. What do I do?????
Re: Turns over but dont start 2002 Leganza
Do you have both of them set at the straight line?
I think that might be your problem...
From your description it sounds like the triangle mark has to match the triangle and the line has to match the line... If it's not like that then that's the reason you are getting air coming back through the inlet .
the cams are physically the same between the inlet and exhaust so they have to have different marks in order to be timed correctly

Re: Turns over but dont start 2002 Leganza
this thread reminds me of my own fate...
I have to pull the head on muh nubira, again
prolly replace some bent valves, again.
anyway... In the past I have used Coats Automotive for purchasing factory parts...
and factory parts were pricey back then, 1st time around ('08)...
so I'm guessing that cost is not lesser these days ?
Does anyone here have recommendation for reputable oem/aft. mkt. parts/mfg'r ?..
that works good and is reliable for the 2.0 se, hopefully less costly then the factory stuff ?
or... Should I force myself to eat it and stick to buying factory parts ?
OP ~if your don't mind me asking ?~
what parts did you use... what mfg'r ?
Do you have a ruff estimate of how much was spent
for all of the parts required to do the repair ?
Did you happen to find a distributor that has good/fair prices ?
I gotta start ordering parts to pull the head and replace some valves...
Timing belt and misc. as well.
just curious on how far it will set me back $$$. wise these days ?
thanks

No problems mate, It just makes things easier when everything is together
Glad you got it sorted! Every 2.0/2.2 I've seen has just had two straight lines marked in. or ex. I haven't seen the Triangle/straight line combination before.
Good luck in the future with the car, they are very reliable with routine maintenance but it is imperative that the oil is changed often as these engines sludge up quite easily.

rockauto is usually pretty good and they have a range of manufacturers to choose from.NubiraDellwoo wrote:this thread reminds me of my own fate...

For timing kits, you should get Gates branded stuff

not a good feeling and not a good look, when youre Mr Man, take your chicks car apart , everything seems great until the would be moment of triumph.
and its dead.
I think we can all imagine the feeling of crushing gloom descending.
Its quite a different thing from when you fuck your own car up and at least there are no witnesses.
Its a whole different grade of humiliation.
