It should be around 72 degrees today here in "frigide" Nothern Canada so it's not that different in Daytona Beach this time of year (which has a high of 77 degrees today)

At this time of year it could hit as much as 90 degrees or as low as 20 degrees.

Our seasons and weather change very rapidly..... the summers are filled with mid eighties to mid nineties and lots of sun (4am to 11pm) while our winters are really cold ( as low as -40 degrees ) and we get very little sunlight ( 9am to 4pm )

I've never been to Florida so it would be a fun trip.

Well, I'll have your pictures in a little bit. I did forget something else, that I should tell you before you take the trip.. It had a leaking heater core, and rather than tearing apart the dash, living in Florida (not worried too much about heat), I decided to bypass the heater core. So the inlet and outlet heater core hoses are tee'd together with a t from those prestone flush kits, leaving the heater core completely out of the system.

Ouch... that is nasty....that's a pretty large chunk of the casting on the back of the tensioner.

I have several blocks/complete engines but something that major would probably require me pulling it back here on a trailer.

If it happened when you were driving it would definitly have damaged the head and or pistons.

Just take a drop-in engine with you and spend a couple days installing it! LOL

Sending it via FedEx would be a little too expensive (LOL) so a trailer might be the only way to go.

I just finished stripping down a 2000 Leganza so I have all kinds of parts for it.

As far as head damage, I wasn't driving, my wife was and I wasn't with her. She said she didn't hear nothing, but she probably also had the stereo blasting so, it probably did some damage up there too.

this tensioner looks very much like mine (1.5 SOHC) does the 1.5 and 2.2 share the same tensioner??

I will talk to my wife about it....... I wonder if I can fix the car up enough to drive it back... I should see if I can figure out some way to tension the belt via another method (such as an external bracket )

I could pull off the head (and replace it if the valves are bent ) ... check on the pistons (and replace them if they are damaged)... install a new head gasket.... reset the timing... install my "bracket tensioner" and drive it home.

It's going to hit about 74 degrees here today

.... so I don't know if I want to come down to the cold in the USA

I just checked the weather and Chicago is around 50 degrees!!

Even though is barely into summer our sun rises at 6:17am and sets at 8:48pm..... it won't be long before we have 18 hours of sunlight
