Lowering the car...new shocks?
Considering going with a set of Eibach for my 2000 Nubira (picked these because their drop is not too extreme...damn roads around where I live, wouldn't be a good idea to go real low). Will the stock shocks work ok with the advertised 1.2" drop, or will they quickly blow out? TIA!

Well, I have a Lanos... always had 2" drop with cut springs, it was ridiculous. Now I switched to 1.2" drop by Eibach (like a month ago), my shocks are still good!!Fishbone wrote:Considering going with a set of Eibach for my 2000 Nubira (picked these because their drop is not too extreme...damn roads around where I live, wouldn't be a good idea to go real low). Unless you are doing the work yourself, you will have to pay AGAIN to have the suspension work done.
It will cost as much to install the new shocks as it did to have the springs put in.
If I were you, I would wait until you had the new shocks and THEN have then new shocks and springs installed at the same time just so you can save some money and not have to pay for the same job twice.

Good point, but springs and shocks I can do myself (have done it on a couple previous cars) so I don't mind if I gotta do it twice. Tearing into an engine I wouldn't feel comfortable with *L*, but most of the basics I can handle. Learned the hard way on a steady diet of used cars over the years *L*.

Yup, I'm on EvoM as "BlackLab" - I don't post much, just mostly read...same as here *L*. The RA is a fun car for sure - it's mainly because of that car and how great it handles, that I want to do some work on the Nubira's suspension. It's a pretty big difference in back to back comparisons unfortunately.
