I want an LSD for my Optra and I was wondering how many of you have $500 to $1100 to spend on an Limited Slip Differencial.
I have a quote from Quaife for around $1100 but I never got around to checking into the Plate type LSD's out there (which are usually cheaper)
The Quaife LSD will fit both the F16/D16 and F20/D20 since they share most of the internal parts (including the differencial)
The Quaife rep did say that "group buys" will reduce the price.

Better Launches....
LSD's distribute Power equally to both the tires.
"anybody that's been stuck in the mud in alabama knows if you step on the gas one tire spins and the other does nothing, No the car that did this had Posi-traction, which wasn't available on the 1964 Buick Skylark."
So I would think your conering and drag launches would be much better but the LSD would cause some HP and TQ loss.
If you plan on going turbo sooner or later this is almost a must because unless you're really careful you'll prolly end up smoking your tires a good bit

Plate type LSD's are more for drag racing..... where as Helical type LSD's like the Quaife are designed for racing on a track.
A Quaife LSD would significantly reduce your lap times since you'd be able to pull power to the wheel that's normally getting nothing.
The result is that you'd be able to put full power to the wheels when coming out of the Apex of the corner.
Normally with an Open differencial ( like your stock one ) you would end up with bad understeer and possibly loose traction if you pushed it too hard.
Traction to two tires will allways be better than one.
