It wouldn't be possible, because if you take the reverse mechanism out, there's still hard plastic left on the shaft. So, it's not just a round metal pole, it's a squarish hard plastic that is around 1 inch thick.

Maybe there's a way to remove it, or make a custom shifter...

This is what I was talking about:

The bottom shifter, you see a white plastic block sticking out under the boot, well it goes all the way to the shift knob. Also, our metal pole is much thicker than that one of Ferrarri's.

still like the idea but never took it seriously .
i think it can be possible!!
but for some reason i dont know if it would look good!!
you can make it out of fiber glass AFTER YOU CUT THE SHIFTER!!
and take measurments, chrome it up or just paint it metallic silver!
and slap it on with no box!
just an idea!

no man, if im doing something im gonna do it right, i`ll just use a light weight metal plate and look for a shaft in a junk yard.

i think the fiber glass will break easly.

first thing to do is to find away of measuring the shaft movment, any ideas?

once i CREATE one, i might think of selling some :P

any one on the waiting list? :P

You can experiment with a jigsaw and something cheap like plywood first, may save a few headaches in design. Like start with some construction paper (for rigidity) then cut it with an exacto until it's close, cut it outa wood until it's dialed in all the way - you have a pattern :D.

I don't know how your shifters sit in the console but would you have to build up any to miss that block?
