unknown problem
guy's the car is a lanos 1999 ... the problem is ... when i drive it on a constant speed for 5 - 10 constantly the CEL will glow and as soon as i stop the rpm will go down to zero as the engine stop's ,when i try to turn it on again it wont start unless if i wait for 5min it will start again and also the car is burning alot of fuel these day's... so help guy's
what engine do you have?
how old is every thing? your car, spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil pack, air filter fuel filter, injectors.
did you do any engine service prior to this problems?
did you get the car scaned to see the DTC?
did you try to reset the ECU?
you say you burn too much gas, is their black smoak from the exhaust?
does the car overheat?
what about its performance? is it good or are you suffering from power loss?
i know i ask too much but it is the only way to narrow down all the possible causes of this problem.

did you do any engine service prior to this problems?
i have changed the timing belt and remap 2 month ago
the problem started gradualy after that
did you get the car scaned to see the DTC?
what is a DTC??
did you try to reset the ECU?
i reseted the ecu 3 weeks ago
you say you burn too much gas, is their black smoak from the exhaust?

The most reliable way to see what's happening in the engine is to remove a spark plug or two and inspect. Are the plugs black and sooty? If so this could be a sign that the engine is running too rich. This would be consistent with your observation of increased fuel consumption and poor performance. This can be caused by the fuel pressure regulator going bad. No idea what the line pressure there should be though.
Cogito ergo sum...
how many Kms on the car? if you needed a timing belt replacment then i recon it is more than 40,000 Kms... this is too much kms to put on your fuel filter so you got to replace it.
your timing belt could be off the correct timing, did you inspect the gears on the cam shafts and the crank shaft and made sure they are alligned correctly before the guy put back all the engine parts back on... i always do that to make sure the guy is not messing up my car.
a DTC is a Dignostic Trouble Code, it is a number you get when you scan the car with an OBD scanner, that code refers to an engine problem and will help us find out what is wrong with your car.
what about during idling?? does it sputter? idle too high?

some people said the fuel pressure in our cars is some 34 psi.tango wrote:This can be caused by the fuel pressure regulator going bad. No idea what the line pressure there should be though.

O2 sensor is not a serviceable part... i mean it is not like spark plugs for example where you have to change them every 20,000 Kms or so, you just replace the O2 sensor if it is bad and you won't know that untill you get the car OBD scaned.
the loud exhaust is an exhaust problem which has nothing to do with engine performance, get the car scaned, replace fuel filter.

I agree with Tango. Need to really look at the plugs for oil or other indicators. Could be an O ring issue or fouled sensor. They make some spray for conductivity and cleaning. You should try to hit the plugs and sockets with it and see if you get a bit of time before the problem comes back. Also never rule out bad gas or seriously fouled combustion chamber. A small misting of water while giving it throttle parked directly in the throttle body can do a basic job cleaning out the chamber in a steaming way.
