I have a fiberglass box from my 01 lanos for a 12" subwoofer which fits in the left side (driver's) of the hatch instead of the plastic piece. It's painted black, but you can vinyl it too. Very good fit. Subwoofer not included. Selling to a new good home. Anyone interested? Here's a picture:
The box is sealed inside, it has three 3/4" mdf pieces, and the rest is fiberglass which allows to get the box to fit between the wheel well and the corner of the hatch. I do not have the mold - > one of a kind.
Hey, if anyone wants to trade. I'll give you this box, if you, in return give me the left (driver's side) plastic piece, the center plastic piece, and the floor from you hatch.
I have them spare in my parts car and I'd love to trade. Maybe I could put that sub enclosure in my dad's Lanos for him. If there is room, I could get a shallow depth sub so the magnet is going inside, and not have the basket inverted like you have in the photo.
I was thinking something like these flat Blaupunkt subwoofers that use very little mounting depth.
Those subs are only a little thicker than a AA bettery, as you can see in the picture. If it is not deep enugh, I can always modify it to fit.
I am a little worried about buying and using a sub I have never heard before. I am going to go to some local car audio shops and see if they carry those thin subs so I can demo them.
Wow.... talk about thin, I wonder how it will handle that much power with such a small magnet.
I bet these things would be nice and tight at low power but "ring" at higher power due to the lack of magnetic dampning.
good price..... I wonder if the aluminum would warp over time....they should have used titanium instead....way better plastic deformation properties. (but more expensive)
Those sub are so thin you could almost mount these on your dash! ( not that you would want to.....indirect sound path results in best sound )

I don't think that comes out to be such a bad deal, considering I paid $440 for this box to be made. Please let me know if you are still interested.
And by the way, the subwoofer you see in the picture is a 12" Rockford Fosgate HE2 (Dual voice coil) subwoofer. I had it sitting with the magnet inside first, but then flipped it around. So. don't worry, most 12" subs will fit with the magnet inside the box, just remember that you should get the ones that use less air space if you want them to still sound clean. Thanks.

It would be nice to put in my father's Lanos because I can't use it in my car unless I take my sub box out.
My box, after displacement of the sub & port, it is 5.2 cubic feet internal volume and the port is tuned to 24Hz.
External dimentions are 34" x 18" x 18" and weighs almost 75 pounds!
I really should make a new box out of Baltic Birch plywood so it doesn't weigh as much but retains it's rigidity and is still acoustically dead.
The weight of the box with the current Rockford Fosgate sub is 30lbs (didn't have time to take out the sub yet). I imagine the weight of the box is around 20lbs. The dimensions of the box are approximately 22"x 15"x33". Make sure you mention the size of the pieces you are sending when getting the shipping quote, because that greatly influences the shipping rate. So, just to make sure, I need the driver's side plastic trim, the center plastic trim, and the carpeted floor piece. Let me know what you find out. Thanks.
